Staged version of Bach's cantata, Der Streit zwischen Phoebus und Pan, based on an episode from Ovid's Metamorphoses in which Midas judges a music contest between Apollo and Pan. This performance was accompanied by ballet and followed by Rimsky-Korsakov's Le Coq d'Or. The 27 January 1942 performance was part of the Met's American Red Cross Festival.
