The costumes used in in the first performance(s) at Epidaurus in July 1969 caused such a stir that in the later performances, at Epidaurus in August and Athens in September, Klonis took responsibility for new costumes. As a result of this furore the director Mouzenidis withdrew from the production; his function was taken over by Vokovits for the later performances in 1969 (ID 1147). In 1971-72 the production was revived under the direction of Mouzenidis, but with new set and costume designs by Spyros Vasileiou (ID 1394).
