APGRD Notes
This version of Sophocles' play highlights the case of 'the missing' in Argentina. The story is set in 1970s Argentina when thousands of women known as the Mothers of the Disappeared, banded together to speak out against a government who had kidnapped, held, tortured and killed their spouses and children. Gambaro's play was later used as a basis of an opera by the composer Jorge Liderman.
