APGRD Notes
A masque by Robert Bridges, produced by Margery Fry (the Librarian of Somerville), for the official opening of the Library on 11 June, with a repeat performance on 22 June. The piece was revived at Somerville fifty years later in 1954 (see ID 10149). Primary source for the masque is the Homeric Hymn to Demeter; cf. Ovid, Metamorphoses 5.642-61. Information about the production can be found in J. L. Myres papers sent by Evelyn Jamison in Bodleian Special Collections.
