It is certain that the production of Ajax in December 1903 was directed by Barrows. But it is also possible that there was an earlier production of this play performed at Hull House by Greek immigrants in the 1890s, and that this production was directed by Addams. Hains (1910) says that the performers in 1903 were "mainly fruit sellers". A few of the cast appeared in the 1904 New York revival of the play (see ID 6195).
