Called a ‘draft’ by choreographer Grant Strate, a new revised version was performed the following year (see ID 4618). Strate claims that inspiration for this ballet first came from hearing Harold Town on a radio show, criticising Tanya Moiseiwitsch's designs for a 1954 Oedipus Rex (ID 256).
