Milo Rau collaborated with the members of the Brazilian workers' organization, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST), to create this play that sets Antigone amidst displacements and environmental devastation in 21st Century Brazil. Sophocles' dichotomy of human vs. divine law is reframed as the conflict of private property and traditional land rights. Multiple members of the cast only appear in videos, including Kay Sara (Antigone), Ailton Krenak (Tiresias), Gracinho Donato, Célia Maracajà, and the choir of MST.
