APGRD Notes
Questionable/debated association with Aristophanes. Premiere production; comedy-ballet choreographed by Robert Helpmann for the Sadler's Wells Ballet company, to Ottorino Respighi's suite 'Gli uccelli' [The Birds] (a 1928 composition, based on 17th and 18th century music, which was an attempt to transcribe birdsong and bird-like movements into musical notation; the suite has no association with Aristophanes' comedy). Chiang Yee’s costume and set designs are stored in the archive of the Royal Opera House.
