Sartori attributes the libretto for the production of this dramma per musica to Luigi Serio, but McClymonds questions this attribution on the basis that the libretto includes a part for Clitennestra: Serio’s version, originally written for Naples in 1779 (Production ID 10814), can be identified by the absence of Clytemnestra and the presence of Elisena, the ‘other’ Iphigenia, who dies instead of the heroine. Julie E. Cumming attributes the libretto to Zeno. The ballets that accompanied the 1786 Rome production were: Alcide negl'orti esperidi; Il re pastore o sia Pulcinella re in sogno.
